St. Margaret's Church, which stands on a small hill above Station Road, was opened in 1837, a benefaction of Hornby Roughsedge, Mill owner, who lived at Bentham House (near to the river bridge, but now demolished). High Bentham did not become a separate parish until later in the century. The church was modified and extended in the early years of the twentieth century.

On the left is a photo of one of the church's stained glass windows which portrays St. Margaret.(Hornby Roughsedge's wife was named Margaret.) In the middle is the memorial to Hornby Roughsedge. On the right, part of the stained glass window dedicated to his memory which was given by Mary Leeming in 1903.
